Lore & Background

In *Rayman 2: The Great Escape*, Globox is introduced as a volunteer in the resistance against Admiral Razorbeard's robotic pirate invasion. Despite his fear, he helps Rayman by creating rain to rust a single robot blocking a path in the Woods of Light. Globox is captured by the pirates and imprisoned aboard the Buccaneer. After Rayman escapes his own imprisonment, Globox delivers a Silver Lum from Ly that restores Rayman's powers. Later, Globox is recaptured and held in the Canopy, where Rayman frees him. Globox then provides another Silver Lum. (Note: Globox is only imprisoned twice in the game—once on the Buccaneer and once in the Canopy; there is no third imprisonment, and his wife Uglette does not appear in Rayman 2.) Globox's children are enslaved in the Iron Mountains mines; Rayman rescues them, and the fourth magical mask is found by Rayman in the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava. In the final battle, Globox is held hostage in the crow's nest of the Buccaneer. After the Buccaneer's destruction, Rayman's friends mourn him, but he emerges alive.

In Their Own Story

Globox first appears in the game when he and Rayman confront the robotic pirate army. Despite his fear, Globox creates rain to rust the robots. After Rayman is captured, Globox escapes and finds Ly, who gives him a Silver Lum to deliver to Rayman. Globox brings the Silver Lum to Rayman in his prison cell, restoring his powers. Rayman escapes through a pipe, but collides with Globox, sending them both plummeting. They are separated, and Rayman later learns from Globox's children that Ly has been captured. After Rayman rescues Ly, she reveals that Polokus can restore Rayman's full powers if he collects four magical masks. Rayman later frees Ssssam the Swamp Snake, who reveals that Globox has been recaptured. In the Canopy, Rayman frees Globox, who gives him another Silver Lum. Later, Globox's wife Uglette tells Rayman that Globox has been re-imprisoned on the Buccaneer and that their children are enslaved in the Iron Mountains mines. Rayman rescues the children, one of whom found the fourth mask. In the final confrontation aboard the Buccaneer, Globox is held hostage in the crow's nest by Admiral Razorbeard. After the battle, Rayman's friends find only his foot and mourn, but Rayman emerges alive on a crutch.

Reader's Guide

Globox appears throughout *Rayman 2: The Great Escape* as a non-playable character who advances the story. He is first seen alongside Rayman confronting the robotic pirates. After Rayman is captured, Globox delivers a Silver Lum from Ly that restores Rayman's powers. Later, Globox is captured and held in the Canopy; Rayman must free him to receive another Silver Lum. Globox is later re-imprisoned on the Buccaneer, and his children are enslaved in the Iron Mountains mines. Rayman rescues the children, and one child has found the fourth magical mask. In the final battle, Globox is held hostage in the crow's nest. After the Buccaneer's destruction, Rayman's friends mourn him, but he emerges alive. Globox's children also appear in bonus levels where the player controls one of them in a race against a robot pirate; winning the race grants Rayman health or a powerup.
